Are you an ambitious researcher wanting to make a difference to industry? Do you have an interest in the built environment and low impact buildings? Do you have experience in web design? Do you have a good degree in a relevant subject area?
Alder Hey children's hospital in Liverpool is embarking on an ambitious plan to de-commission its existing hospital facilities, and commission a brand new facility. The new scheme has a unique challenge to provide facilities that are accessible, secure, healthy and productive while minimizing their impact on the environment.
LJMU has developed a strategic partnership with Alder Hey hospital to provide strategic advice in this new development. A PhD student is required to investigate the application of new low impact energy technologies to the hospital.
A PhD fee bursary exists to support the student. The bursary will pay for all tuition costs during the three years of study.
In addition a part time salary of up to £8000 per year exists, for the researcher to provide assistance in the management of BEST (Built Environment and Sustainable Technologies) research centre. The researcher is expected to develop and maintain the web site and provide assistance in the management of the centre. A small amount of teaching is also required (up to two hours per week).
Overseas applicants must have a very good command of the English language.
