Applications are invited for eight full-time PhD Research Studentships starting 1st October 2008. The successful candidates will join an established research team in the world-renowned School of Sport and Exercise Sciences.
Candidates will normally be expected to hold either a 2:1 or First class honours degree, or a Masters degree in a relevant discipline.
The studentships include a stipend of £12,900 per annum plus UK/EU tuition fees.

The effect of age, exercise and training on the expression and function of human monocyte toll-like receptors
The development and manipulation of maximal fat oxidation in young people
Energy expenditure and body composition in Paralympic athletes
Hydration, thirst and body water regulation
Are the current UK guidelines of 30 minutes walking on 5 days per week sufficient to reduce cardiovascular risk factors and type 2 diabetes risk in obese women?
Minority youths' narratives of their physicality in school: Intersections of gender, race, social class
Sport policy in the United Kingdom: An analysis of devolved responsibility
Globalisation and sport: A sociological perspective
