Delft University of Technology Applied Sciences
Delft, (Zuid-Holland), 38 hours per week
Job description
This proposed research aims to design and functionalize (arrays of) top-down fabricated silicon nanowires to investigate their electronic and physico-chemical properties. The control over the device geometry and the electrical contacts will be among the challenges faced. Additional challenges include the exploitation of designed, responsive properties (e.g., magnetic, light-induced, switching, conformational changes, specific binding) via the chemical functionalization of the silicon nanowires, and elucidating electronic transport mechanisms in the fabricated nanodevices. This interdepartmental, experimental research involves clean room chemistry at the TU Delft Nanofacility, surface chemistry and electronic investigation.
