Job description
Function title: PhD position 'Starch based high performance coating materials'
at the department of Polymer Chemistry, Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials.
Job description
This project deals with the search for biobased materials in coating applications. Polysaccharides will be modified partially with various low and/or high molecular weight compounds (including substituents that can lead to specialized properties like for instance UV curability etc.). The incorporation of the substituents will be accomplished by enzymatic modification techniques and the properties of the prepolymers obtained will be evaluated in close collaboration with the coating industry. The functionality of the polysaccharides and the unique catalytic properties of enzymes have to be exploited optimally in order to obtain high performance coating systems.
