Job description
The research Institute for Culture and History (ICG) has programmes in archaeology, history, literature, art, the Golden Age, European studies, and cultural heritage and identities. The emphasis lies on studying European culture from a historical perspective. The ICG has a vacancy per 15 October 2008 as part of the NWO project ‘Hidden Lives - public personae: women in the urban texture of the Roman Empire' for a PhD-Student.
The appointee will be expected to research and complete a PhD dissertation within a period of three years and three months.
Requirements
Required education/skills:University Graduate
We seek an excellent researcher with a Research Master's or a Doctorate in Classical Archaeology, with expertise in Roman sculpture. Applicants should have excellent proficiency in English and German, and be able to read French and preferably also Italian publications.

Additional conditions of employment:
The appointment will start on 15 October 2008. After a positive evaluation in the first year, the contract can be extended to a maximum of three years and three months. The gross monthly salary will be in accordance with the University regulations for academic personnel, and will range from €2000 to a maximum of €2558.
