UK : PhD studentship University of Cambridge

Duration: 3 years

A PhD studentship in the area of Open innovation is offered jointly by CBR (www.cbr.cam.ac.uk), UKIRC (www.ukirc.ac.uk), and Judge Business School (www.jbs.cam.ac.uk) to candidates with an excellent first degree, and with a Research Masters degree by September 2010, who wish to advance their academic, or professional, career. Awards are open to UK/EU/International students.

Research Areas: Open Innovation

You will have an interest in gaining a better understanding of the nature of open innovation. This project will seek to explore the antecedents, processes and consequences of firm’s adoption of open innovation strategy and practices. For instance, how do we explain the variance of firm’s behaviour in adopting OI practices in the UK? How does OI practice effect firm’s innovativeness? And how does the use of open innovation affect internal organization design and IP strategy? The person appointed will become an active, contributing member and colleague in the group and apply rigorous social science methods, build on theoretical insights and collaborate closely with industry to produce high quality research.
