Annual stipend + tuition fees
Applications are invited from exceptional candidates of any nationality, across Engineering, Science and Mathematics to take advantage of an outstanding opportunity to become involved in exciting groundbreaking research in the field of Space Systems Engineering. Several research topics are possible, including: NEO missions, lunar missions, orbital dynamics, trajectory optimisation, formation flying, spacecraft attitude and control, autonomous systems, concurrent engineering and surface robotics. The studentship is tenable for a period of three years, subject to satisfactory progress and provides payment of tuition fees (Home/EU or overseas) plus a generous annual stipend. The successful candidate is expected to undertake up to 6 hours of academic support activity per week, starting from September 2010.
Entry Requirements: Applicants should have a First Class UK Honours degree, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline such as mechanical or aeronautical engineering, mathematics, physics and astronomy or computer science. Experience of mathematical modelling, numerical methods and Matlab programming is also desirable.
