Studentships provide an annual allowance of £17,424 (i.e.Home/EU fees, stipend and £1,000 training support grant) and are awarded for three years.
The two studentships will be located in the Centre for Business, Organisations and Society (CBOS). CBOS is concerned with the relationship between corporations and the societies in which they operate, the ethical position of modern corporations in different societal contexts and the study of corporate social responsibility as a strategic phenomenon. The Centre is directed by Professor Andrew Millington and Dr Steve Brammer. CBOS is interdisciplinary and an active research culture is supported by 12 PhD students and a seminar series which brings first-class scholars and leading practitioners from around the world to stimulate and support research and teaching. We would welcome applications from candidates with a research interest in philanthropy/corporate community involvement or in corporate social responsibility in the multinational company.
Applicants should have at least a good 2.1 in a social science discipline. Postgraduate training in research methods is desirable but not essential.
Applications should include a cover letter, CV, two letters of reference and a 4 page research proposal that clearly demonstrates how your interests fit the research orientation of CBOS. Short listed applicants will be interviewed. Applications are encouraged from people seeking to pursue an academic career. You are likely to have the opportunity to teach and will be expected to play a full role in the Centre for Business, Organisations and Society.
