Dorothy Hodgkins Awards

Applications are invited for five three-year Dorothy Hodgkins Awards in the specific areas of:
1. "Characterisation of inertia welded and linear friction welded titanium alloys using transmission electron microscopy."
2. "Characterisation of inertia welded nickel superalloys using transmission electron microscopy."
3. "Characterisation and modelling of recrystallisation in single crystal nickel superalloys."
4. "Modelling of multi-pass laser deposition of polyscrystalline nickel superalloys."
5. "Assessment and characterisation of nickel superalloy components manufactured using multi- pass laser deposition."
Candidates should have the equivalent of a 1st class degree in Metallurgy, Material Science, Engineering or Physical Sciences, and should normally be from India, mainland China or Malaysia.
Successful candidates will receive a minimum bursary of £12,940 pa, as well as having their tuition fees covered in full for the duration of their studies. Competition is likely to be severe, and therefore successful candidates are likely to be in the top five percent of their class.
