UK : Kingston University 2 x PhD Studentships

School of Geography, Geology & Environment

Industry-funded and BGS-funded PhD studentships from October 2008 on Mineralization Processes and Mineral Deposit Geology.

Applications are invited for two new fully-funded PhD studentships within the School of Geography, Geology and Environment at Kingston University.

If you have, or expect to obtain, a good honours degree in Geology, Earth Science or a related discipline and are interested in undertaking a mineral deposit PhD that combines overseas field work with laboratory studies using state-of-the-art equipment, please contact us.

Successful applicants will join a lively research group of some four academic staff and five PhD students actively engaged in Mineral Deposit Research within the Centre for Earth and Environmental Science Research at Kingston University.

Project 1 (RandGold-funded project)

Structural, fluid and geochemical controls and exploration models for shear hosted orogenic gold deposits in the Nielle mining district, Cote d'Ivoie

Project 2 (BGS and Kingston University joint- funded project)

Characterisation and evolution of ore fluids related to diverse styles of Au-Ag, Cu and Pb-Zn mineralization in the Tertiary metallogenetic province, southern Balkans; metallogenetic and economic implications.

These positions are open all suitably qualified UK, EU and overseas applicants, but citizens of countries outside the EU will need to make up the difference (c. £5900) between Home/Eu and overseas tuition fees.
