Department of Chemistry
Applications are invited for a fully-funded PhD studentship in the area of RNA chemical biology. This is a three-year studentship, funded by the Leverhulme Trust, that has been awarded to Dr Glenn Burley (Chemistry) and Professor Ian Eperon (Biochemistry). The grant will support a student at a standard research council stipend. The project brings together experts in modern nucleic chemistry and RNA splicing, both of whom have active and supportive research groups. The student will be based in the Department of Chemistry, in newly refurbished laboratories. Training will be provided in all relevant areas of chemistry and biochemistry.
Training:
In the course of the project you will be exposed to a multidisciplinary programme of synthetic organic chemistry, solid phase and enzymatic RNA synthesis, PCR and various aspects of RNA biochemistry and splicing analysis. The project will involve close interaction with groups based in the newly refurbished Chemistry department (Burley) and the Henry Wellcome Building (Eperon).

Limit of tenure: 4 years
Entry requirements: The studentship is available to UK/EU citizens with a ≥2.1 (or equivalent) honours degree in a chemistry or life sciences discipline.
How to apply:
Interested applicants are invited to send their CV (including contact details for two professional referees) to or request further information from either Dr Glenn A. Burley or Prof. Ian Eperon.
