The Agris Mundus Masters course is a two-year training programme of 120 ECTS (European Credits Transfer System) in agricutural development and management of natural resources.
The Agris Mundus Masters course objectives are to train students to cope with the current global/international concerns in agriculture and rural development. Graduates will be qualified to identify and critically analyse key factors shaping the development of crops, forests and animall production, the management of research and rural development projects and finally, the sustainable use of natural resources and the environment. They will be trained to formulate and provide effective and appropriate responses to complex agriculture and natural resources related issues.
As the result of the selection of the Agris Mundus Master course by the Erasmus Mundus programme, the European Commission provides a number of scholarships. In accordance with the rules of this programme, each of the training tracks involves one year (M1) in one institution, and one year (M2) in a second institution, the two of them being delivered in two different countries of the European Union.
Study Scholarships
15-30 scholarships are usually offered each year to the Agris Mundus master course by the Erasmus Mundus Programme of the European Union.
NEW! From 2010, there will be two categories of grants for both European and non european students.
Eligibility criteria for category A grants
- a) to be a citizen of a third-country : all countries other than the 27 States of the European Union and the associated states [Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway], Turkey, Switzerland, Albania, Bosnie-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Former Yugoslavia, Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia;
- b) not residing in any UE Member State or participating country;
- c) to have not carried out his/her main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months the last five years in any of the UE Member States or participating countries, at the date of the application.
Eligibility criteria for category B grants
These grants can be awarded to students selected by the Agris Mundus consortium and those who do not fulfil the category A criteria defined above.
Selection
The academic admission is confirmed and the specific criteria are observed.
The Agris Mundus consortium and the European Commission select who receives an Erasmus Mundus scholarship.
The European students who are academically admitted but who are not selected for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, may however, be awarded with one of the following support grants:
- Erasmus mobility grant: 100-200 Eur. per month dedicated to the second year of studies. European students attending Agris Mundus course are entitled to an additional Erasmus mobility grant, even if they already received an Erasmus mobility grant in their previous studies. This grant has to be asked from the country where you start your first year of the Agris Mundus studies. It could be of useful complement to help you in the mobility scheme of the programme.
- Grant from the Conseil Regional Languedoc Roussillon: 400 Eur. per month. The local authority Languedoc Roussillon supports the Agris Mundus students during their stay in Montpellier.
Other Scholarships
Students who are admitted but who do not benefit of an Erasmus Mundus scholarship are en-couraged to seek for other sources of financial support. For this purpose, the secretariat can send them an estimate of the cost of the studies.
Arrival in Europe, how things are going on?
- The Erasmus Mundus scholarships are managed by the Agris Mundus secretariat. Beneficiaries are required to order themselves their flight ticket from their home country.
- The studies office manager of the first hosting country will help you to open a personal bank account. Then, you will receive a lump sum of 1,500 Eur. representing a part of the scholarship. The remaining one will be transferred regularly to your bank account.

How to apply, what are the eligible criteria?
- Download the application form below and get prepared to send it with copies of the diploma, CV, academic transcripts, letter of motivation and letters of recommendation.
- Deadline for application:
- January 22th, 2010 for Category A Scholarships and Admissions
- May 28th, 2010 for Category B Admissions (no EM scholarships) - An electronic submission procedure will be open on December 10, 2009 on this website. This procedure will allow you to upload all required documentation into the application system.
However, for the first round 2010, sending applications by air mail to the Agris Mundus secretariat will still be possible. However, candidates are encouraged to apply on line rather than by air mail when their access to the internet allows them to do so.
Electronic applications are more secure : you are sure your application has been re-ceived on time, and you get a receipt for this.
In the case of applications sent by air mail, they have to reach the secretariat before the deadline.
Delays due to the airmail may be possible and can lead to the rejection of your application when it arrives after the deadline!
