UK: PhD Studentship in Politics and International Studies, Coventry University

The Department of International Studies and Social Science is pleased to announce a three-year PhD studentship starting in September 2008. The studentship will support a postgraduate research student in the area of Politics and International Studies within the research expertise of the Department. The Department has particular research strengths in European integration, British foreign policy, International history, African politics, Chinese foreign policy and global security.

Holders of the studentship will be required to undertake undergraduate teaching or to provide administrative/research support to the department for a maximum of 6 hours per week as a condition of their awards.

Applicants must have a 2.1 or first class honours degree in a relevant field such as History, International Studies or Politics and a suitable Masters degree.

The funding will cover home or EU fees (at the Home/EU rate of 3,175 for 2007-8) plus a maintenance grant in line with research council studentships (currently GBP 12,300 per annum). Should an award be given to a non-EU citizen, fees will only be reimbursed at the Home/EU rate. A fund will also be available for research-related travel expenses.
