USA: International Scholarships in Waste Management Research and Education

Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF).

The scholarships are awarded each year by The Foundation for PhD or postdoctoral level. Scholarships recognize graduate students pursuing excellence in waste management research and education. Recipients are chosen based on credentials and potential contributions to the solid waste industry and its scientific contributions to the solid waste industry and its scientific community.

Scholarships awards are given based on:Academic or professional performance, Relevance of one’s work to the advancement of waste management scienc and the potentiality for success.

Qualifications:
Applications will be considered from those who:

  • Will be this year or are now a full-time PhD student or postdoctoral researcher
  • Have a clearly demonstrated interest in waste management research.

Amounts awarded take into account the cost of tuition at the recipient’s institution and any other funds received. Full scholarships cannot be awarded to students who will be receiving full-tuition scholarships from other sources (excluding direct university assistance such as tuition remission and/or income received from assistantships), although such students may still be considered for partial awards.Scholarship Range:
Scholarships are given each year in the amount of up to $12,000 each, paid monthly, and renewable for two additional years for a potential total of $36,000. Progress must be certified annually by the student’s academic advisor.

Application Procedure:
Applicants should request an application packet or download the pdf application below. Upon receipt of the completed packet, the foundation’s scholarship review committee will review the applications and, following their recommendation, scholarships are awarded by the Board of Directors.
