Germany: Doctoral Scholarships in Particle Physics, University of Heidelberg

Several PhD scholarships are currently offered by The Heidelberg Graduate Research Group “New Symmetries and Extra Dimensions”, Kirchhoff Institute for Physics. Expected candidates should hold diplom or masters in physics and have a good knowledge of the basics of particle physics.

Successful candidates will work on data analysis with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, in particular on searches for new phenomena (supersymmetry, extra dimensions, mini black holes) or physics of strong interaction.

The scholars will be well integrated in an attractive research environment and will be members of the Heidelberg Graduate School of Fundamental Physics.

A selection of possible topics:

  • Mini black holes in contact interactions
  • Search for monojets
  • Jet measurements with the ATLAS Detector
  • Search for supersymmetry in decays with tau leptons
  • Search for monojets
  • Search for supersymmetric Higgs bosons

Interested candidates should contact Dr. Jochen Dingfelder (Chair of the Graduate Research Group) before 16 May 2008 at email: jdingfel@kip.uni-heidelberg.de, Phone:9832 Office:0.309.

Alternatively you may also contact Dr. Victor Lendermann at email: victor@kip.uni-heidelberg.de, Phone: 54-9283, Office:0.311
