School of Humanities/School of Social Sciences, College of Arts & Social Sciences
Stipend (£12,900 in 2008/9.)
The Leverhulme Trust is funding this project to investigate the political economy of the decline of the jute industry, jointly directed by Dr Carlo Morelli (Economics) and Professor Jim Tomlinson (History). We are seeking applicants for this three year scholarship from those with a Masters degree (or other appropriate knowledge and experience) in an area of empirical social science or humanities who wish to obtain a PhD. It is envisaged that the dissertation will include significant use of oral testimony, so candidates with knowledge/experience in that field would be especially welcome, but others should not be deterred from applying. A knowledge of basic economics/business concepts would be an advantage.
For further details and an informal discussion contact c.j.morelli@dundee.ac.uk or j.d.tomlinson@dundee.ac.uk.
The scholarship will begin in September 2008 and pay tuition fees and a stipend approximating to research council rates.
