DTU Executive School of Business invites qualified candidates to apply for a 3-year PhD scholarship in Innovation Management and New Business Creation.

Are you interested in how firms can improve their success with new business models and new products or processes?

Do you want to be part of an international researcher team developing new concepts for innovation and new business creation?

Are you interested in quantitative and qualitative empirical research?

Then we strongly encourage you to apply for the PhD scholarship at DTU Business, due to start no later than December 2009.

DTU Executive School of Business – in short DTU Business – is a center at DTU, which pursues research and provides executive programs in the areas of innovation, leadership, global management, and corporate entrepreneurship since 1997. DTU Business was established under the original name of ‘TEM Center’ in 1997 and has since then grown to an important Scandinavian provider of innovation and corporate entrepreneurship related programs.

DTU Business gathers researchers, who share an interest in innovation management and corporate entrepreneurship. We operate a portfolio of empirical research projects in cooperation with international research partners from a number of recognized universities in Europe and North America. In this context we offer PhD students:

  • The possibility to engage in ambitious empirical research projects in innovation management and new business creation, which are embedded in an international research environment.
  • Close guidance and support throughout the course of the PhD from DTU Business faculty together with flexibility in designing a PhD program consistent with one’s own interests.
  • The possibility to pursue part of the research project at one of our international partner universities.
  • Opportunity to work in an environment, which combines rigour academic research with strong ties to innovation management and new business creation practice in business.
  • The prospect of becoming a part of a truly international, ambitious, and fun team of young researchers.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have a master’s degree in social science, engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a master’s degree.
  • Experience or strong interest in developing conceptual and quantitative empirical research
  • Ability to plan and carry out complex research tasks, working independently as well as in groups with international interactions
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken

Terms of Employment
The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is 3 years. The place of work is DTU Executive School of Business, Copenhagen. Main supervisor is Professor Søren Salomo.

The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU. For information about the general requirements for enrolment and the general planning of the scholarship studies, please see the DTU PhD Guide.
