Amsterdam, 1018 WB (Noord-Holland), 38 hours per week
Job description
The Department of Psychology of the University of Amsterdam searches for a PhD candidate / Bayesian Hypothesis Testing in Hierarchical Models: A PhD Proposal for the Innovation of Psychological Methods.
This PhD project focuses on the application of Bayesian hypothesis tests to hierarchical and possibly order-restricted models. The Bayesian hypothesis test has many advantages over the frequentist hypothesis test (i.e., the p-value methodology). Goal of the project is to highlight the practical and theoretical benefits of the Bayesian hypothesis test by means of application to concrete problems such as response time analysis and participants versus item analysis. Complications such as sensitivity to prior distributions and analytical intractability are addressed by the development of partial Bayes factors and the use of transdimensional Markov chain Monte Carlo methods.
