Leibniz Project ‘Political Language in the Middle Ages. Semantical Approaches'

The Department of History at the University of Frankfurt am Main (Germany) seeks to fill the following vacancies within the Leibniz research project "Political Language in the Middle Ages. Semantical Approaches" (Prof. Bernhard Jussen) starting as soon as possible:

- several doctoral fellowships (1,303 EUR net per month, including 103 EUR for materials)

Funding is available for semantical analyses originating in any field of medieval studies which - in the broadest sense - belongs to the political sphere. These may refer to any historical period from Late Antiquitiy to the late Middle Ages.

The fellowships are granted initially for 1 year, with the possibility of extension by another 2 years after evaluation. Residence in Frankfurt am Main is required.

Candidates are expected to hold a university degree (M.A. or equivalent) in history or any other historical discipline and to be prepared for teamwork and commitment within the scope of the Leibniz project. Applications should include a cover letter explaining the applicant's interest in, and possible contribution to, the Leibniz project, a CV, copies of all relevant certificates, and a research proposal of 5-7 pages.

The University of Frankfurt a. M. aims at raising the quota of women in academic positions and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply. Severely handicapped candidates with equal qualifications will be preferred.
