Australia: Catherine McAuley Scholarship The Australian Catholic University Brisbane Campus

Established through a generous donation from the Sisters of Mercy, Brisbane Congregation, the Catherine McAuley Scholarship honours the founder of the Order.

Only one scholarship will be awarded each year and there will be a maximum of four scholarship holders at any time. The University reserves the right not to award the Scholarship or to vary the amount of the award.

Eligibility

Students entering the first year of their undergraduate course at ACU National Brisbane campus (excluding Bachelor of Theology)

Must be Australian citizens or have Australian Residency status.

Value

Up to $2,500 per annum for the length of the course (up to four years).

Selection Criteria

Preference will be given to commencing students, those who are socially and economically disadvantaged, indigenous students and those from rural and regional areas

  • Academic merit (based on OP score or entry rank)
  • Evidence which demonstrates the applicant's contribution to and/or leadership in community service, through activities designed to create a more just, merciful and sustainable world (may be included in referees' reports)
  • Evidence of social and economic disadvantage, indigenous or rural or regional background
  • Two referee reports which address the selection criteria

On-going criteria – scholarship holders must

  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress, according to the University's policy;
  • Remain a full-time enrolled student at the institution unless there are exceptional circumstances that prevent the student from studying full-time, which have been endorsed by the University.

Note: Performance and personal circumstances are to be taken into consideration when reviewing and renewing the award each year.
