Germany: PhD Scholarships in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, Max Planck Institute

Several Phd scholarships are offered by the The International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) for Quantum Dynamics in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The scholarships are available for students pursuing PhD at IMPRS. Admission will be granted on a competitive basis.

Interested candidates are expected to hold Master of Science degree (or equivalent). Applicants who do not have a Master thesis may be accepted if they can prove their ability to carry out independent research projects.

International applicants whose native language is not English or German are advised to provide a proof of English proficiency. At equal level of qualification, candidates with disabilities are given preference. Women are encouraged to apply.

All applicants have to initiate their application by registering via web form. Applications without previous registration will not be considered. Application deadline for the current round is 31 May 2008.

After filling the application form, aplicants will be informed by email within a few days whether he/she is encouraged to send in his/her complete application package including

  • CV,
  • Mark sheets and certificates documenting the complete course of studies,
  • Certificate of highest degree obtained so far,
  • Master thesis (or publications in international, refereed journals)
  • Proof of proficiency in English (if applicable),
  • Description of research interests,
  • References (of at least two academic teachers who are able to judge the applicant’s personality and intellectual potential).

Please do not send any material until you are encouraged to do so.Short listed candidates will be invited for interviews with their potential supervisors and an oral presentation of their Master work.
