Australia: PhD Scholarships in Politics, International Studies and Philosophy

Australia. Macquarie University.

A 3 years PhD scholarship is available for a collaborative opportunity between the Department of Philosophy, Macquarie University and the School of Politics, International Studies and Philosophy, Queen’s University Belfast. The amount of the award would be AUD 20,007 p.a.( to cover living expenses) and will be paid bi-weekly.

The candidate will enrol as a research student at Macquarie and will, under the terms of a co-tutelle agreement between the institutions, spend up to one year in Belfast, Northern Ireland, as a Queen’s research student. Off-campus supervision will also be provided electronically.

The project should use recognition theory, as it has been developed in recent strands of philosophy and critical social theory, to explore some significant aspect of contemporary political life. This scholarship is available to domestic or international students. Applicants should have an Australian first class honours undergraduate degree or equivalent (Masters with a thesis) a relevant discipline. International awardees will have tuition fees and health cover sponsored.

Interested candidates are expected to have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent. Application are open for student from any nationality.

Research areas which are comply with this scholarships are: Policy and Political Science, Philosophy and Religion, Philosophy, Humanities of Arts, History and philosophy of science and medicine,Policy and administration, Social science or Sociology.
