UK: PhD Scholarships Department Of Accounting And Finance University of Stirling

The RAE 5 rated Department of Accounting and Finance at the University of Stirling has a strong commitment to postgraduate studies and is internationally recognised for its accounting and finance research. The members of the department continuously publish in esteemed national and international journals and are active in promoting academic scholarship in numerous ways. The Department is also committed to further strengthening its research activities and thus contributing to the university's mission to be a research-led academic institution. In order to further strengthen its research, the department has available a number of PhD Scholarships in specific project areas.

These include:

1. Board Characteristics and Company Performance (Dr. Kevin Campbell; kevin.campbell@stir.ac.uk)
2. Do Bondholders Profit From Equity Offerings? (Dr. Yulia Veld-Merkoulova; j.w.veld-merkoulova@stir.ac.uk)
3. How Individuals Make Investment Decisions (Professor Chris Veld; c.h.veld@stir.ac.uk)
4. The History of UK Corporation Tax (Professor David Stopforth; d.p.stopforth@stir.ac.uk)
5. Accounting History (Professor Lisa Evans; lisa.evans@stir.ac.uk)

Preference will be given to applicants for these specific projects but students can also submit their own proposals. We are looking for candidates who have obtained excellent performance on MSc programmes with a significant component in accounting or finance; a high GMAT score is viewed favourably. A very good knowledge of English is a prerequisite.
