Applications are invited for appointments as Associate Professor / Assistant Professor in Geotechnical Engineering within the Department of Civil Engineering. The position will be on three-year fixed-term basis, with consideration for tenure after satisfactory completion of a second three-year fixed-term contract.
Applicants should possess a PhD degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, with practical experience in the industry and a strong background in teaching and research. The appointee will be expected to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses and be strongly committed to research. He/She will also be expected to interact closely with other members in the Department.
Applicants should have a strong background in the area of geotechnical engineering or foundation engineering. Experience in remote field monitoring, instrumentation or numerical modeling would be an advantage.
The Department of Civil Engineering is one of the five engineering departments in the Faculty of Engineering. The Department has enjoyed a good reputation as a leading world-class institution for research and teaching in civil engineering, and nurtured high-calibre leaders for the community as well as the civil engineering profession.
The Department is active in research in water and environmental engineering, structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, construction management and transportation engineering.
