2 year bursary

£12,000 per annum + fees + financial support for research

2 years for MPhil stage (option to complete further year for PhD completion - not funded at present)

Research Area: A comparison of school-based strategies to increase physical activity and health in school children

Purpose: to evaluate the impact of several innovative school-based intervention strategies designed to increase physical activity and/or reduce sedentary behaviour on energy expenditure / physical activity patterns, fitness, cardiovascular health and body composition of school children aged between 10-14 years old.

Applicants for a research degree should have a good Honours degree or Masters degree in sport & exercise science, or a related area. The preferred start date is June 2008.

Applicants for whom English is not their first language are required to demonstrate their ability in English, typically a TOEFL score of 610 or an IELTS (British Council) score of 6.5.
